AN art exhibition in Towcester, which saw work worth £2,500 sold over one weekend, has been hailed a success.
Nicholas Hawksmoor School was host to the 2008 Open Art exhibition which was seen by more than 300 visitors.

They were able to view work by 37 artists and craft makers from across Northants and north Bucks.

During the weekend there were five free workshops for all ages, on mono-printing, felt making, creating sea creatures from mod-rock, pottery painting and making mosaics with quick-drying cement.

Ceramics artist Sally Eaton from Brackley, said: "It gets your work known and, at exhibitions like these, even if you don't sell anything on the day, you often get commissions."

Exhibition co-ordinator Sally Austin said: "We have had feedback from the artists who have said it was the best yet.

"We had hundreds of visitors who saw a wide range of high quality artwork. It shows our reputation is growing and that people want to exhibit with us."
