THE spirit of rock and roll, motorbikes and cafe culture was bought to life during the inaugural Ton-Up at Jack's Hill Transport Cafe in Towcester on Sunday (20/07).
Advertiser & Review photographer Steven Prouse was there to take pictures of the event. Click on Play to see a photo slideshow of images.

Up to 4,000 mods, rockers and teddy boys rode their vintage bikes and scooters to the Watling Street cafe to share tales of the road and remember the 1950s and 60s.

Entertainment was supplied by 60s singer Mike Sarne, the rock and roll cover band The Rapiers and the vinyl only DJ The Rocketeer.

Motorcycle legend Mick Hemmings made a guest appearance and Northampton author Chester Dowling used the event to launch his new book Just For Kicks that recalls his experiences during the rock and roll era.

Northamptonshire Police also had a stall promoting road safety and took riders out on road awareness trips. Co-organiser Doug Smith said: "It was fantastic, there were so many people there with some great bikes. It really gave you a taste of the era.

"It was a great success and we are hoping to do it again next year."
Suzanne Capella, co-owner of the cafe said: "It surpassed everybody's expectations. They had such good feedback we are really looking forward to next year."
