ORGANISERS of the 49th Bicester and Finmere Show hope to have raised around £15,000 for two spinal injury charities.
The event which was held last Saturday and Sunday, (2-3/08) is estimated to have attracted around 3,000 spectators.

One of the organisers, Susan Ricketts, said numbers were slightly down on last year due to the weather, but added: "I think the show was tremendously successful, everything ran smoothly and a good day was had by competitors and spectators alike."

The highlight of the two-day event was the International Trial, Show Jumping class, which is the highest category of show jumping.

The winner was the senior international from Leicestershire, Di Lampard on Master Cruise, second place went to Bumble Thomas from Ludgershall on Harrington II, with third place going to William Funnell on Mondriaan.

The show also included ferret racing, alpacas, a fun fair, around 30 trade stands, classic cars, and a steam engine.

The equestrian show was first held in 1960, and has flourished since then, attracting some of the biggest names in show jumping and contributing £350,000 to the Back Up Trust and Spinal Research.

Mrs Ricketts said the event was organised by a team of eight people, and appealed for volunteers to step forward to help ensure the show reaches its half-century successfully next year.
