In windy, cold conditons, Saints picked up the pace, winning 2-1 - a welcome victory after two defeats to Halesowen and Corby.

Guy Hadland put Brackley ahead with a 19th minute goal and loan striker Alex Fisher sealed victory with a 59th minute strike.

Captain Dave Savage returned to the side after serving a three-match ban.

The previous losses had all but put paid to Brackley's chances of promotion from the BGB Southern League Premier Division as they are too far adrift of a play-offs' spot in eighth place. Nevertheless, boss David Oldfield wants his side to keep focused and play to their best in the remaining games.

He said: "We want to finish the season as strongly as we can and gain the highest possible placing. There is still plenty of work to do."
