FIREFIGHTERS and police were called to a number of flooding incidents across the region during the recent heavy downpours.
On Monday (17/03), van driver Maxime Deniset found himself stranded in deep flood water at Leckhampstead Wharf near Thornborough.

A passer-by alerted police and a police patrol car arrived, radioed for the police Landrover, and Buckingham PCSO Steve Staley and a Thames Valley Police colleague drove through the flood and gave the stranded man a lift back through the water on their bonnet.

Firefighters returned to the same spot later in the day, at around 1.10ppm, when a car became stuck in the flood water. Crews from Buckingham and Winslow were sent out, along with the rescue boat from Newport Pagnell, but the man had freed himself before firefighters arrived.

For the latest flood warnings in place, and for advice, check the Environment Agency website at http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/subjects/flood/ or call Floodline on 0845 988 1188 for more information.
