GREATWORTH Playgroup enjoyed its most successful annual family fun day as it raised £2,500 towards the cost of a new building.
Now in its fifth year, the fun day, car boot sale and dog show, held on Sunday, September 21, attracted up to 800 visitors, twice last year's number.

Advertiser & Review photographer Will Johnston was on hand to capture some of the sights. Click on Play to see a slideshow of images from the event.

The fun day had a wide range of stalls and entertainment including a magic show, bouncy castle, archery and a performance by Chenderit Jazz Band.

There were 18 classes in the dog show, including Best In Show, which was won by Isabel Knibb, from Croughton, with her Highland Terrier, Murphy. Reserve Best In Show was won by Heather Donnelly, from Finmere, with her Border Collie, Sketch.

Cathi Simpson, playgroup management committee chairperson, said: "It was better than we could have even imagined. We had double the turnout we normally get and we raised double the money."

Mrs Simpson added: "The weather was on our side and it created such a lovely atmosphere people stayed all day and everyone contributed towards a really fun village event."

The playgroup currently used the hall at Greatworth Primary School. So far the management committee has raised £12,000 towards a £100,000 project to build the playgroup its own home within the school grounds.
