More than 6,000 people attended the meeting at Towcester, a large number of them women who competed for a £1,000 best-dressed prize.
First prize was taken by Michelle Barlow, from Isham, near Kettering, who was wearing a green dress, with runners-up Debbie Grogan from Warwick and third-placed Pauline King.

The 200 best dressed ladies were given a free glass of Pimms. The event was organised to coincide with Ladies Day at Royal Ascot, which was held at the Berkshire track earlier that afternoon.

General manager, Kevin Ackerman, said the event was a resounding success and was impressed with the crowd who attended the course's first ladies evening.
