EA Sport’s 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil plays a better game of football than FIFA 14 and there is enough on offer to warrant stumping up your hard earned cash for it.

Matches in Brazil offer action packed entertainment with more chances at goal and more excitement than FIFA 14 (which was a step backwards from the brilliant FIFA 13), while heading and dribbling has also been improved.

Unfortunately, there are still some issues.

Lobbed through-passes and crosses are very inconsistent, big stars like Ronaldo and Messi are still too overpowered and switching between players can still be cumbersome.

Like usual, EA Sports’ presentation is fantastic, from the brilliant commentary, cuts to fans celebrating at famous landmarks around the world, real national managers going mad on the touchline and even talk-radio hosts chatting inbetween games.

The usual game options minus Ultimate Team are available, including ‘road to the world cup’ where you can take any country to Brazil and ‘captain your country’ which is an interesting take on Be A Pro.

There is also an equivalent of ‘seasons’ online where you progress to different Brazilian stadiums, plus an online World Cup knock-out tournament.

All in all it is a good effort by EA Sports to give something different to FIFA fans and will certainly get you excited for the real World Cup in June.

Out now on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
