First Marsh Gibbon Scout Group are appealing to businesses to help them replace two of their boats.

The scouts have been making and selling survival bracelets and bag packing at a local supermarket, raising £870, but are looking for help to reach their target of £8,000.

Leader Mark Hill said: “Last summer 40 members of the group went the Lake District on a sailing exercise, where unfortunately, two of our sailing dinghies were damaged. We need to either mend, or replace the boats in time for the summer holidays when we have planned a series of regattas.

“This year we have a large number moving up to cubs and scouts where they can start learning to sail, so the need for boats is even more important than before.”

The Scouts do their sailing at Great Moor Sailing Lake. near Steeple Claydon. Anyone interested in lending their support, call 01869 277732 or email floataboat@btinternet.com.
