AFTER over two years of hard work the young people of Towcester have had their wish come true with the launch of the towns legal aerosol art wall on Monday.
The project was kicked started in 2009 by a consultation run by the Soundbox partnership including Vision Youth Cafe, The Police Safer Community Team and South Northants Homes. Together they run quarterly Friday night events actively reducing anti-social behaviour and giving young people a voice in their community. From this consultation, permission was given in 2010 for a trial piece to be created on the front of Vision, this trial was a successful and with further petitions signed by young people for the wall and after extensive community consultations the wall was built.
Vision director Lisa Bolton said: “The Legal Aerosol Art wall not only gives the young people of Towcester an opportunity to express themselves with positive aerosol art but also gives them the extremely rare opportunity to lead by example as this is the first legal wall to be set up in a rural community with only six walls across the UK.”
