VISITORS to St Lawrence Church in Towcester helped to raise more than £850 for the upkeep of the church during the annual flower festival last weekend.
The three day festival featured 63 colourful arrangements, some made by community groups including the WI, Probus Club and Trefoil Guild, but many were the result of work by the St Lawrence Church flower arranging group.
This year’s theme was Women Through the Ages and included a bright pink arrangement symbolising the life of novelist Barabara Cartland.
Rona Cambray, chief coordinator for the festival said researching the lives of some of the women revealed some interesting historical insight and added: “We discovered the huge battles some women fought in the past and learned a lot.”
