A large free annual music event for the whole family takes place once again at the end of the month.

A huge variety of acts from folk, contemporary, covers, African and even a chance to try your hand at Zumba will fill the Market Square in Buckingham for the Music in the Market extravaganza on Sunday May 29.

Organised in a partnership between Buckingham Town Council and the Buckingham Acoustic Club, nine hours of music from local artists will begin at 1pm and go on until 10pm with professional sound and staging.

The headline act this year is The Montanas, and making a popular return after his success last year is Thomas McAvoy.

In addition to the music, food will be on hand from Pegasus Catering and the mayor and Town Crier will open the event at 1pm.

People of all ages join in the fun each year, as many genres of music are catered for and the event is a great way for the community to enjoy a day out together.

Music to look forward to includes great fingerstyle guitar from Udo Dolz and Ash Centi; African rhythms from John Howarth’s Safari Boots; excellent covers from duos Jenny and Steve, Thilby and Smith, Ian Murray and Ronni Sutherland and Gary and Mark.

There will be the great contemporary sounds of Gabriel Barr and Ronni Murray and the folksy sounds of Mike Weston and Fraser and Toots, then a chance for all the family to join in Janey Betts’ Zumba in the middle of the afternoon, and to hear the Glee Club’s choir. Local rising stars The Straight Laces will get everyone dancing early in the evening before Thomas McAvoy will follow up on last year’s great set, this time as a duo with Ben Dandy on lead guitar, just before the headline set from the Montanas featuring Syd Twynham.
