Those aged under 16 who are longing to throw something onto the bonfire in Buckingham and be in with the chance of winning £50 or £10 are being called to enter the town’s best dressed Guy competition.

This year’s bonfire and firework display is being held on November 2 and those who are planning to create a Guy for the occasion can have it judged by the mayor Ruth Newell on the paved area outside the Old Gaol at 1pm.

Prizes are £50 for the best entry from a group and £10 for the best individual entry.

The winning entry will then be paraded at the bonfire and firework display in the paddock area at Bourton Park that evening, and thrown on the bonfire.

The display free and kicks off at 6pm with a barbecue followed by a musket volley by the Sealed Knot, a firework display at 7pm and a torchlight parade led by the Sealed Knot.

Last year’s winners were the third Buckingham Cubs, who won the group category and Imogen and Charlotte Vernon-Stroud who won the individual entry.
