Scotsman Marti Pellow has spent the last 10 months touring the country with Evita and his stint with the show will come to an end on his final night at Aylesbury Waterside.
In his role as Che, the character who reflects the voice of the Argentine people, he sings some of the most iconic songs in the show, writes Heather Jan Brunt.
And of course as front man with Wet, Wet, Wet Marti knows all about iconic songs.
Their single Love Is All Around is one of the UK’s biggest number one singles.
After leaving Evita Marti will take some time off, write some songs for the band and for his solo career, and then there’s a tour coming up with the band.
But until then his focus is on Evita.
He said: “It’s my first Andrew Lloyd Webber score. I knew some of the songs from watching David Essex on Top of the Pops when I was a lad.
“As soon as I was asked, I said I was up for it.
“It’s great to be part of an enthusiastic ensemble, I enjoy the energy.
“Every show is different, it’s 30-years-old but people still hold it with great regard.”
Portuguese Madalena Alberto plays the role of Evita and Marti is full of praise for her.
“She’s fantastic, a force to be reckoned with,” he said.
Evita plays at the Waterside from Monday to Saturday, July 14 to 19.
