Buckingham band Liquid Stone are having a re-union gig.

A BUCKINGHAM band formed in the 1970s is holding a reunion gig at Buckingham Town Hall on Saturday, July 23.

Liquid Stone was originally formed in 1975 as a covers band playing R&B, while the four band members were still at school.

Micky Boy (Mick Prodanovic), Ronni (Sutherland), and Muz (Ian Murray) were all pupils at The Buckingham School, while Tanner (Ian Tansley) attended the Royal Latin.

Talking to the Advertiser this week, band members recalled how the Buckingham School’s music teacher Dick Deller encouraged them in their musical endeavours and even started a school jazz band where teachers and pupils played together.

In 1980, Liquid Stone did a national tour, supporting the punk band UK Subs.

n 1981 they released a single, Here Comes The Weekend, which has been recently re-released by US label Sing Sing Records, after gaining something of a cult status in the last couple of years, with old copies selling for large sums online.

At next Saturday’s gig, the four original band members will be playing their own material from their 1980 tour.

Tickets, available from The Duke’s Music and Villiers Hotel in Buckingham, are selling fast. Tickets can also be bought online using Paypal via the Liquid Stone Facebook page.
