CHILDREN at Deanshanger Library recently got a chance to see what being in an orchestra was like.
Milton Keynes City Orchestra did nine concerts in four days in libraries across the south Northants and Daventry area as part of a project to get people to think about libraries in a different way.
Thirty-two youngsters from Deanshanger Primary School attended the event in the village.
Children’s librarian, Kate Stretton, said the idea of the event was to get people thinking about libraries beyond borrowing books.
She said: “It gave children a chance to have access to music they might not otherwise have access to. We had lots of wonderful feedback and the children enjoyed it.”
The orchestra created a piece of music, called Song and Dance, especially for the occasion. Children were introduced to three instruments and invited to play a piece of music or attempt some conducting.
