Claydon House, in Middle Claydon, is hosting a Month Of Music, with local bands, choirs and ensembles playing free live music in the beautiful National Trust property.

On Friday and Saturday, July 1 and 2, Semafour will be offering swinging jazz standards.

On Friday, July 8, the Beacon Community Choir will sing well-loved songs from jazz to musicals to pop classics. And on Saturday, July 9, entertainment comes from a flute duo.

On fine evenings, the music will be played outside on the house’s terrace overlooking lakes and parkland.

Doors open at 6pm, with performances ending at 9.30pm.

Staging and judging is on the Tuesday morning, then for the remainder of the show the blooms will be on display to all.

Officials of the society will be on hand throughout for anyone who would like to know more about the cultivation of carnations and pinks.

Free charity family fun day

> Fun and games are on offer at a free family fun day on Sunday, July 3, in aid of the Florence Nightingale Hospice’s Florrie’s Children’s Team, which supports local children and their families affected by life-limiting illness.

Florrie’s Family Fun Day, at the Bucks Sports & Social Club (opposite Stoke Mandeville Hospital) from noon to 4pm, promises a fun-packed day, with a BBQ, bouncy castle, face-painting, arts and crafts stalls, games and refreshments.
