It will be a bit of homecoming for members of Winslow-based band Down For The Count when they play at Winslow Public Hall on Saturday, September 8.
The nine-piece jazz and soul band are all former Aylesbury Grammar School and High School pupils who grew up in and around Winslow.
Band leader Mike Paul-Smith recalled: “All of our early rehearsals were in my mum’s living room in Ovitts Close.”
Band members Richard Hawking and Kate Ballard still live in the town.
Keep Calm And Carry On Swinging will take you back to the 1940s with an evening of swing, jive and big band music from Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Peggy Lee, Louis Armstrong, Louis Prima and Benny Goodman. Dust off your dancing shoes or just sit back and enjoy.
The evening will also see the launch of the band’s new album, Downtown.
Doors 7.30pm, live music from 8.15pm to 11.15pm. Drinks from the bar.
