THE manager of an animal training company that has provided talent for blockbuster films Charlie And The Chocolate Factory and the Harry Potter series has expressed her delight that the company’s move to Stewkley has been given the go-ahead.

Birds And Animals UK will be moving from its current base at Leavesden Film Studios to take up residence at Stewkley’s Silkwell Stud Farm, following approval from the Aylesbury Vale District Council (AVDC) planning committee last week.

Manager Julie Tottman, who has run the company for the last 22 years, called the decision “the start of a really exciting opportunity”.

She said: “We were a bit tense going into the meeting – especially where the unique nature of our business means we fall outside a lot of conventional guidelines – but thankfully we got the desired outcome.

“Everyone was really positive about the plans, which was great to hear, and the application ended up going through as smoothly as we could have hoped.

“We’re really looking forward to the move.”

The company recently provided trained owls, dogs, cats, frogs and rats for the latest Harry Potter film.

The new premises on Dunton Road will become an indoor training facility with kennels, aviaries and accommodation for the firm’s animal specialists.
