WINSLOW'S thriving Scout group will be on a sure footing thanks to the town council.
At this month's meeting, councillors granted the 1st Winslow Scouts £3,000 towards replacing the floor of their headquarters in Piccadilly, off Station Road.

The work will replace old damaged carpet tiles and allow more indoor activities to be held.

It will also make the building more attractive for hire by other groups, providing an additional source of income for the Scouts.

Dean White, chairman of the 1st Winslow Scouts, said the building is used by around 100 members from Winslow, Buckingham and surrounding villages.

He added: "We're very grateful to Winslow Town Council for providing this funding.

"It will make it much nicer for when we hold meetings and programmes for the Scouts, and will make it that much easier to hire to third parties."

He said Scouts would top-up the grant provided by the town council with more fundraising later in the year.

The Scout group has also been granted permission to extend the outdoor area adjoining its headquarters, for activities such as tent-pitching practice.
