NORTH Bucks MP John Bercow paid a visit to The Bell in North Marston as part of the national Proud of Pubs campaign.
Landlord Quentin Turner-Zealey discussed a number of issues with Mr Bercow, who also enjoyed a drink and a chat with customers at the 200-year-old pub in North Marston High Street, on Friday, July 18.
Proud of Pubs Week is an annual campaign supported by the Publican trade magazine, and is designed to give owners the chance to promote their business and highlight the vital community role pubs play.
Mr Turner-Zealey said the pub is involved in plans to create a new village cricket team, and has supported a major community project to improve the North Marston sports field.
He said the smoking ban and cheap supermarket deals had affected trade, but The Bell has found a way to diversify.
Together with his wife, Sufit, Mr Turner-Zealey is now running a successful Thai restaurant and take-away from The Bell.
More than 100 MPs around the country met staff and customers at local pubs as part of Proud of Pubs Week, which ended on July 20.
