SCOUTS from five local groups took part in a 24-hour challenge weekend at the Great Moor Sailing Club.
Fifty-six Scouts from Maids Moreton, Winslow, Stewkley, Tingewick and Great Horwood made up 14 teams which competed against each other in a series of challenges.

Following a tent-pitching competition on Saturday, the Scouts left for a five-mile hike where at a series of bases they constructed an A-frame crane for lifting water from the lake and at another base operated water-propelled rockets.

The afternoon concluded with a time trial cycle course through woods and gravel track while in the evening a cooking competition was held where each team had to provide a two-course meal for themselves and a leader at £1.50 a head. On Sunday, Scouts took part in paddle racing.

District commissioner, Paul Ketteridge, said: "The final scores between the teams were very close with a team from Great Horwood Scouts winning the coveted District Trophy – a chromium-plated engraved felling axe. All in all a very enjoyable and rewarding weekend for all who took part."

If you are interested in joining or helping as a leader with local Scouting contact Mr Ketteridge on 0845 8392847.
