PADBURY charity Ali's Dream has raised the highest-ever total from its annual clay pigeon shoot.
Now in its eighth year, the clay shoot held on Sunday, April 26, raised more than £3,400 towards vital research into the treatment and prevention of childhood brain tumours.
Sue Farrington Smith, event organiser and Ali's Dream trustee, said: "We are delighted that despite hard economic times we were able to beat previous years' totals.
"This is the eighth annual clay pigeon shoot and we are overwhelmed with the continued support we get for this most popular event and that this year we raised the highest amount yet."
Buckingham Round Table's £500 sponsorship helped achieve the impressive total, as well as a further £430 donated by other sponsors including Ricola, Jacknella Creative, Brassknocker Consulting and Clear Edge.
Karl's Bakery in Steeple Claydon and the Bucknall Cartridge Company supplied goods at discounted prices, and people from Folly Farm gave their time to roll the fields after the shooting.
Buckingham-based David Gill and Eddie Porter both shot an impressive 45 out of a possible total of 50, with Mr Gill earning top gun status after a countback. Julian Wilson shot 31 to win top novice.
Led by the Dadford-based Nev Hannah, the Possum Poachers team retained its winner's shield for a third year running. Runners-up were once again Whaddon Wind Ups with a score of 167.
