YOUNG people got information on careers, after-school activities, sports and voluntary work at an event in Winslow.

Held on April 25 at the Winslow Centre in Park Road, the Learn2Live event was organised by Police Community Support Officer Wendy Taylor in association with the Buckingham South policing team and Neighbourhood Action Group.

PCSO Taylor said: "The day was a great success. Those who came really enjoyed themselves and we are already planning the event for next year.

"This was an opportunity for all young people and their families to come along to find out about all the different activities and careers available to them in their areas. As well as future career opportunities, they also found out about after-school activities and different clubs and organisations they can get involved with in their spare time.

"By showing what is available to them, they can develop their interests and talents in something they can enjoy and want to get involved in."

Representatives from more than 50 different organisations attended the event, including the emergency services, the armed forces, the Young Farmers' Club, the Aylesbury Motor Project, and firms in the hospitality, construction and hair and beauty industries.

Voluntary organisations attending included the Red Cross, the Royal British Legion, the Duke of Edinburgh's Award scheme and Vale Volunteers.
