A DOCUMENT explaining how Aylesbury Vale is to accommodate 26,890 new homes by 2026 is to be submitted to the Government for approval.
The draft Local Development Framework Core Strategy document was approved by Aylesbury Vale District Council on Wednesday, May 6, and sets out how homes, offices and shops will be built to serve local needs over the next 20 years.

Proposals includ
e 16,800 new homes in and around Aylesbury, 5,390 south-west of Milton Keynes towards Newton Longville, and 4,700 to be shared between Buckingham, Wendover, Haddenham and Winslow.

John Byrne, the council's head of planning services, said: "The core strategy is a hugely important document as ultimately it lays out how Aylesbury Vale could look in the next 20 years.

"Residents, community groups and organisations took a lot of time submitting comments on the draft document and we have made changes to reflect those suggestions where possible.

"The government inspector will now look at whether the strategy can progress and become the planning policy for the district."

The document identifies general locations, scale, and types of development, and takes matters such as local environment, economy and education into account.

Employment is also considered, and the council hopes its development plans will lead to the creation of 21,500 jobs around the district.

Members of the public will be able to make comments when the document is publicly unveiled in June, which will be forwarded to the Government inspector reviewing the proposals. The inspector will then hold a public examination before deciding whether or not the council can adopt the proposals.
