3,000 new homes at Hampden Fields 'recommended for approval' as part of Aylesbury planned growth

Proposals for Hampden Fields, a key part of Aylesbury’s planned growth and Garden Town masterplan, are recommended for approval at Buckinghamshire Council’s Strategic Sites Committee meeting on Wednesday 24 February.

If approved, Hampden Fields will deliver significant new infrastructure alongside the 3,000 new homes, realising an investment of approx. £100 million through the Section 106 Agreement and delivery of the Southern Link Road.

The proposed integrated community will deliver two new primary schools, a new doctor’s surgery, employment land for up to 1,200 new jobs, over 109 hectares of green open space, sports and play facilities, allotments and community growing spaces.

Crucially, the dual-carriageway Southern Link Road between A413 Wendover Road and A41 Aston Clinton Road will be delivered as part of the first phase of development to coincide with the delivery of other sections of the Council’s orbital link road strategy.

Aylesbury Vale District Council previously resolved to grant outline planning permission in late 2017 and received confirmation from the Secretary of State in March 2018 that the planning permission could be issued without Government sanction.

Since that time, Buckinghamshire Council has updated the Aylesbury Strategic Transport Model which required the transport modelling and associated environmental assessments for Hampden Fields to be updated.

The submitted reports demonstrate that the package of proposed highways improvements remains appropriate and robustly mitigate the individual and cumulative impact of the development.

The planning application is now being presented to the Council’s Strategic Sites Committee with a recommendation for approval.

Subject to issue of the planning permission, the detailed design process for the development will be commenced to enable the delivery of the link road and other key infrastructure to begin on site in Spring 2023.
