Aylesbury charity Lymphoma Action launch 'Distance Aware' badge campaign

The badges form part of a Distance Aware pack produced by the Charity designed to remind others to maintain respectful social distancing where possible.

The design on the badge has been developed by NHS Wales as part of their Distance Aware initiative.

Lymphoma Action, along with a number of other national charities, are aiming to make it the recognised symbol across the UK for those people who wish to maintain a safe distance from others when they are outside.

The Charity has also developed a distance aware poster that is free to download from their website for display in home windows, offices and shops.

“As we continue to deal with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we know that people affected by lymphoma have concerns about staying safe,” says Karen Rabjohn, Director of Fundraising and Communication at Lymphoma Action.

“Blood cancer patients were identified very early on as being at extremely vulnerable to severe illness from COVID-19 and this, understandably, has led to high anxiety and concern amongst the people we support.

"Coming out of their home after months of shielding will be particularly stressful for many people across the UK, regardless of whether they have an underlying health condition or not. It is vital therefore, that they have some means of politely asking people to respect the space around them.

"Our hope is that the badge will remind people to keep others safe, and that it will act as a means of support for people with health issues, carers and those who are generally concerned around taking the next steps towards a ‘new normal.’”
