Coronavirus update: No new deaths reported for almost a week in Bucks

The number of people who have died from coronavirus in Buckinghamshire remains at 242 after no new deaths were reported in the region's hospitals on Monday.

There have now been no reported deaths in Buckinghamshire's hospitals for six consecutive days.

Data shows that 123 people are reported to have died in hospital with coronavirus between 1 March – 14 June and 119 people have died in care homes between 10 April – 5 June.

Across the UK, the death toll has risen to 41,736 after a further 38 people were reported to have died in hospitals, care homes and in the community on Monday. It is the first time that there have been more deaths on a Monday than the preceding Sunday since the peak of the virus on 20 April.

As of Monday morning, non-essential shops can reopen in the UK. However, pubs, hairdressers and cinemas will have to wait until 4 July at the earliest.

Places of worship in the are also now open for individual prayers.

The public must wear face coverings on public transport and there is a £100 fine for non-compliance.

Globally the disease has now claimed 436,473 lives with over eight million now known to have contracted the deadly virus.
