A BUCKINGHAM businessman who wants to bring the spirit of St George back to the town is holding a party in the community centre.
Bands The Red Bullets, Rock the Kasbah, My Holiday Romance and Sync the Bismarck will be taking to the stage at the St Georges Day Party on April 21, which will celebrate everything about the patron saint of England.
The event has been organised Steve Taylor, a former Buckingham resident who is returning to the town.
Mr Taylor said he wanted to hold a St George’s Day party because there weren’t many events to mark the special day.
He said: “I have started a promotion company and I decided to put on an event in my home town and raise money for charity at the same time.”
He has chosen Help for Heroes and the mini-bus fund for St James and St John School, in Akeley and Chackmore.
“The bands I have chosen are well-known to everybody,” he said. “Everyone will come in red and white and a gang of lads will be coming dressed as knights.”
Mr Taylor chose Help for Heroes as one of his charities because he felt many soldiers returning from war did not get enough support.
“We have a few lads from the Buckingham area who have lost their lives in conflicts. I feel as though they are out there for no reason really and our government just doesn’t look after them,” he said. “Hopefully we will raise a few thousand pounds. It might not be a lot, but it will all help.”
The event starts at 7.30pm. Tickets are £12 and are available from Impressionz Tattooz, Wharf Motors, Steve’s Burger Van on the A422 near Wicken or online from www.pegasuscatering-mk.co.uk.
