Rockin' back to the Sixties in Oxford

From the team behind Dreamcoats and Petticoats, Save The Last Dance For Me will take audiences back to a time of music and magic in the early Sixties when each passing week brought another rock n' roll classic.

This nostalgic, feel good journey follows two teenage sisters through the summer of ‘63.

For the first time without their parents, the sisters embark on a holiday to the seaside.

Full of freedom and high spirits they meet a handsome young American who invites them to a dance at the local US Air Force base.

But young love and holiday romance is never as simple as it sounds, and the sisters soon realise that while the world around them is still watching itself in black and white, life and love can be much more colourful.

The show features the classic hits of Pomus and Shuman including A Teenager In Love, Sweets For My Sweet, Turn Me Loose, Here I Go Again, Viva Las Vegas, Little Sister, His Latest Flame and Suspicion.

Antony Costa, best known as a member of the boy band Blue, the biggest British boy band of the Noughties, takes on the role of Milton in the show.

Blue disbanded in 2004 but have since reunited and this year have released their fifth studio album before embarking on a UK tour.

Costa has previously appeared on stage in the musicals Blood Brothers and Boogie Nights.

Save The Last Dance For Me is on at New Theatre, Oxford at 7.30pm from Monday July 18 through to Saturday July 23, with additional 2.30pm matinees on the Wednesday and Saturday.

Tickets cost from £15 and are available from the box office on 0844 871 3020 or online from www.atgtickets.com/oxford.
