This might not seem the most appropriate time to see a play written from the perspective of the Queen’s death.
After all, Queen Elizabeth II has just become the longest reigning monarch in this country, surpassing the previous record set by her great great grandmother Queen Victoria.
But King Charles III is coming to Milton Keynes Theatre and it is promoted as ‘a future history play’. Starring Robert Powell as King Charles III the plot revolves around Charles taking the throne after a lifetime of waiting, following the death of the queen.
The play shows for a weekat 7.30pm from Monday October 12 through to Saturday 17, with additional 2.30pm matinees on the Wednesday and Saturday.
The plot follows the early reign of Charles as king but before his coronation a problem arises that brings about a constitutional crisis and leaves the country on the brink of civil war. His power is formidable, but how should he use it?
King Charles III explores the people underneath the crowns, the unwritten rules of our democracy and the conscience of Britian’s most famous family. All the members of ‘The Firm’ are represented, including William, Kate, Harry and Camilla. And there may even be a shadowy appearance by Princess Diana.
For both loyal monarchists and staunch republicans the multi award winning play is billed as thought provoking, amusing and thrilling.
Tickets cost from £17.50 and can be booked at the box office, or call 0844 871 7652 or online at www.atgtickets.com/miltonkeynes
