Angelic voices rang out at the switching on of a town’s Christmas lights.
About 50 children from Bourton Meadow Academy and Grenville Combined School sang Christmas carols and Let It Go from the film Frozen at the popular annual lights ceremony outside Buckingham’s Old Gaol on Saturday evening.
The Winslow Concert Band warmed up the crowd with festive tunes and MK Dons mascots Donny and Mooey took round buckets for donations towards the mayor’s charity.
Rector of Buckingham Will Pearson-Gee welcomed the gathering and the new minister of Well Street United Church Tim Edworthy spoke about the meaning of Christmas.
MP for Buckingham John Bercow attended the event for the first time this year and assisted town mayor Lisa O’Donoghue in doing the countdown.
And keeping an eye on things was Santa, on the top of the Santa float.
Mrs O’Donoghue said: “It was a really lovely occasion.
“It’s always really well attended.
“We get a lot of families come down and it’s really nice.
“It’s kind of like the start of Christmas.”
