Application in for homes, leisure facilities, retail units and roads
A development which would include homes, roads, commercial premises and leisure facilities has been proposed in an outline planning application.
Buckinghamshire Advantage, the delivery arm of Buckinghamshire Thames Valley Local Enterprise Partnership (BTVLEP), submitted the application for Aylesbury Woodlands on Friday.
Aylesbury Woodlands is an extensive site to the east of Aylesbury, close to Aston Clinton.
Developers say the submission to Aylesbury Vale District Council follows an extensive programme of community and stakeholder engagement.
Richard Harrington, Managing Director of Buckinghamshire Advantage, said: “The key driver for us in taking on this challenge has been to plug gaps in growth infrastructure provision, to grow jobs, build communities and enhance access to open space and new community facilities.
“In this respect Aylesbury Woodlands is both highly complementary and distinct from previous Aylesbury major development areas. We have been pleased with the local community contribution that has helped shaped the proposal and look forward to further engagement through consultation.”
Planners say the site would be a ‘high quality sustainable scheme designed to deliver green infrastructure. It will offer mixed land use with the provision of commercial premises to facilitate employment growth, leisure opportunities to promote health and well-being and housing.’
The Aylesbury Woodlands site is bounded to the south by the A41. To the north is the Grand Union Canal; to the east is the Arla dairy and the County Council Waste Transfer Station.
