NORTHANTS police have said no riots took place in the county this week but are monitoring social networking sites and warned retailers to be wary.

Signs on petrol pumps in the district also told customers fuel would not be sold in portable containers for a temporary period.

Although there is no suggestion of a wider disturbance, Brackley did experience a wheelie bin fire on Tuesday evening. Fire crews were called to Stuart Road and a spokesman for the fire service said the fire was caused deliberately. There were reports of similar fires across the county.

Two people have been charged in Northants in connection to the disturbances.
