There’s an opportunity for young actors to audition for a production of The Wind In The Willows at Northampton’s Royal & Derngate.

The theatre is looking for talented local children to join its professional cast in this year’s Christmas show, which runs from November 27 to January 5.

Initial auditions take place at the theatre on Saturday, September 28, with call backs on Sunday, September 29.

Director Gary Sefton is looking for girls and boys aged from eight to 14 to to play a variety of riverbank animals in this adaptation of Kenneth Grahame’s classic and well-loved children’s story.

The young actors will be cast in three teams that will rotate between performances.

They need to have enthusiasm, personality, good movement, singing and acting ability.

Rehearsals start on October 21, and children must be available for rehearsals and performances as scheduled until the show finishes .

Audition slots are available from noon to 5.15pm on September 28 and parents must pre-register by Monday, September 23.

There are only 100 audition places available and they will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
