OWNERS of the Brackley chicken processing plant have signed an acquisition deal to create one of the largest food producers in UK.
Yesterday, Tuesday, May 1, The Faccenda Group Ltd, based on the Buckingham Road Industrial Estate, announced the acquisition of Cranberry Food Ltd, the country’s second biggest turkey producers.
The two firms will have a combined annual turnover of around £400 million.
The Faccenda Group is a privately owned family business which has been a leading supplier of fresh chicken products for 50 years. It employs 2,000 people in hatcheries, farms, feed mills and processing plants across the UK.
Of these, 900 people are employed at it’s Brackley headquarters and processing site.
Cranberry Food supplies the UK’s leading supermarkets, and food service sector, has around 750 employees, and a turnover of around £100m.
Cranberry Foods’ joint managing directors Andrew Lewins and David Horn will remain with the business in their existing positions during the take over process.
Mr Horn said their rapid growth since 2003 was down to a commitment to product quality and added: “These values are all evident in Faccenda’s Brackley site which is one of the largest and most efficient in Europe”.
Mr Lewins said: “They (Faccenda) have been a UK success story for many years and share our commitment to British farming. Through this acquisition Cranberry gains the benefits of being part of a larger food business that seeks to build on its existing strengths and successes. It heralds a new era for Cranberry Foods and its employees.”
