THOSE behind one of the oldest traditions in the region are appealing for more men to come forward to help it continue as they prepare to dance on Boxing Day.
Records show the unique dances by the Brackley Morris Men have been performed for at least 400 years.
On Boxing Day they will be jingling their bells and banging their sticks for revellers at the The Blackbird Inn, Croughton at 11am, before a performance on the Brackley Piazza at midday, then The Sun Inn, Whitfield at 1pm.
The Morris Men dance in the Cotswold tradition which was wide spread until many perished in the First World War. Fortunately rebellious school boys at Magdalen College School revived the side in the late 1950s.
