LAUNTON ladies who brave wind, rain and snow to raise money for Cancer Research UK made a record-breaking £16,000 last year.
The Launton Friends of Cancer Research UK, with a committee of 12 members, get involved in an impressive array of fundraising activities.
Last year’s events included a fashion show in Launton’s Tythe Barn, a mile of coins, and a well-supported charity knitathon.
“If we think we can make even a little bit of money we are usually prepared to have a go,” said group member Rosemary Stubbings.
Among the group’s regular supporters are Launton Post Office, The Bull Inn and the Launton Village Players.
Collections were held in Bicester town centre and outside Tesco stores in Bicester and Brackley, and two young members of Buckingham Golf Club raised more than £640 for the group with a golf day.
