Brookside’s new book makes a stand for children’s rights

CHILDREN from Brookside Primary School in Bicester have produced a new book in time for Christmas.

Pupils from Year 5 and Year 6 worked with teachers Kate Malyn, Felicity Stewart and James Watt to produce their new book Every Child Counts.

Based on pupils’ studies of UNICEF’s rights of the child, each of the 30 rights is told from the children’s point of view in poems, short stories, and fact-files.

Art work has also been created to accompany poems and stories.

Kate Emptage from Brookside School said: “We are incredibly thrilled with the outcome of this inspiring project the children have loved every second and have a real sense of satisfaction and achievement. They are immensely proud of what they have produced.
