Householders in Buckingham and Winslow are being reminded of changes to refuse and recycling collections over Christmas.
Properties with refuse and recycling collections scheduled for Monday, December 27 will have their waste collected on Tuesday, January 4, 2011.
Households with refuse and recycling collections scheduled for Tuesday, December 28, will have their waste collected on Wednesday, January 5, 2011.
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday collections between Christmas and New Year will not be affected. In the week following New Year’s Day though, collections will be a day later than normal.
Residents in Buckingham and Winslow can have their brown or green bin emptied on their revised collection days. However, the garden waste will not be composted.
Sir Beville Stanier, councillor for environment and health, said: “This year, we’ve changed the Christmas bin collection regime to make the catch-up period shorter. The revised collection dates enable us to return to normal scheduled collections much sooner as they require us to only work one Saturday to catch up.”
“Over the festive period I would like to urge everyone to do their bit for the environment by recycling as much of their Christmas waste as possible. Paper, bottles and plastics can all be recycled in the recycling baskets. There are also many recycling sites around the district where residents can recycle other items such as card, shoes and textiles.”
The household waste and recycling centre at Yonder Slade, in Buckingham will be open from 8am to 5pm as usual over the holiday period except for Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. See www.buckscc.gov.uk for more information.
