A Steeple Claydon barn has been converted into a successful luxury self-catering unit with funding from Aylesbury Vale’s LEADER programme.
The barn was transformed after owner Christine Hodges created a business plan and submitted a funding application, which was supported by the AVMK Local Action Group.
Mrs Hodges, of Blackmoor Hill, is now helping other self-catering businesses in the area following the success of Harvest Moon Barn.
She said: “Harvest Moon Barn has been so popular that we are planning to convert another barn just to cope with demand. Already this year I have had to turn away over 10 weeks of bookings.”
Tourism South East recently highlighted the lack of visitor accommodation in Aylesbury Vale, despite the number of major attractions in the area, such as National Trust gardens, heritage sites and Silverstone circuit.
Every overnight visitor is said to contribute an average of £25 to the local economy on top of what they spend on accommodation.
