Waste management firm Viridor has been given a letter by the government that he is prepared to allow the firm’s appeal against a council decision opposed to initial plans for an incinerator in Ardley.
The Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government (CLG) issued a letter on Thursday, which was accompanied by an inspector’s report into a public inquiry that was held in July.
The proposed EfW facility will have a capacity to process 300,000 tonnes of residual, non-recyclable waste.
In October 2009, Oxfordshire County Council’s Planning and Regulation Committee refused Viridor’s application. As a result Viridor lodged an appeal in January this year, which led to a public inquiry.
