Commuters using Bicester North station will soon be able to access free WiFi thanks to a new partnership between Chiltern Railways and service provider The Cloud.

Bicester North, Banbury, Warwick, and Haddenham & Thame Parkway will be among 24 stations to get free WiFi.

Warwick Parkway went live on Friday, and the others will be connected over the next four months.

Chad Collins, head of stations at Chiltern Railways, said: “WiFi at our stations is one of the things that our customers have said that they want and we’re delighted to be offering this in partnership with The Cloud at no additional cost to station users.

“We were also the first company to offer free WiFi on all of our longer-distance trains.”

Vince Russell, managing director at The Cloud, said: “People’s behaviour is changing and even a few seconds spent in a waiting room or on a platform is an opportunity for them to check their devices.

“WiFi simply makes that a faster and more enjoyable experience.”

He said he expected other rail companies to follow suit.

Free WiFi will be available for up to an hour each day.
