AN Olney company has made tracks to become a sponsor of this year’s business excellence awards.

Intelligent access control specialist Traka, based in Stilebrook Road, has stepped in to sponsor the award for Achievement in International Trade.

Traka has itself previously won awards for innovation and international trade, and wanted to give something back to an event that can encourage inspiring businesses and those that have worked hard to make a difference.

Traka chairman John Kent said: “As a fresh and rapidly growing entrepreneurial company Traka appreciates the ‘feel good factor’ that comes with winning an award and the positive impact recognition can have.”

The Milton Keynes & North Bucks Business Excellence Awards are organised by the local chamber of commerce and are a celebration of the success many businesses are achieving, despite a tough economic climate, and Mr Kent said Traka is proud to be associated with it.

Traka manufactures intelligent key management systems that have saved businesses time and money while encouraging better standards and increased security within any business or organisations.

The company’s systems ensure only authorised users gain access to keys.

Users can be assigned temporary or permanent access to a key cabinet and the system automatically records when a key is taken, and by whom, on a central database. The system can operate standalone or in a networked server environment.

The company’s portfolio of customers includes the vehicle fleet at Merseyside Police and controlling access to fork trucks at every Tesco UK distribution centre across the country.

Everything Traka produces is designed and manufactured in Milton Keynes.

Mr Kent added: “As well as being highly accessible, Milton Keynes provides good networking opportunities within its vibrant city centre. The south east is proving to be an affluent business region despite the downturn and remains in a strong position when compared to other regions.”

l The awards ceremony will be held at DoubleTree by Hilton at stadium:mk on October 20. For details on contacts visit
