Call for local residents to stand as town councillors

WINSLOW Town Council needs two new councillors.

From May 5 there are 12 councillor positions on the town council, but only 10 residents submitted nomination papers for the May elections. So the town council needs to co-opt two more members as soon as possible.

No particular experience or expertise are needed. A keen interest in the community, enthusiasm and commitment to ‘make a difference’ locally are the most important qualities.

As a councillor, you would need to keep up to date with issues arising in the town as well as preparing for and attending monthly council and committee meetings. It is usual for a councillor to be on no more than two committees.

The amount of time you commit will depend on the issues that interest you and the time you have available.

It is not essential to be a Winslow resident. You can apply if you work in Winslow, or live within three miles.

The closing date for applications is Monday, May 9, with informal interviews shortly thereafter

Write to town clerk Bridget Bradford at the town hall or at expressing your interest and outlining your background and relevant experience.
