A suspected purse thief caught on camera in a Northamptonshire Costa coffee house is being sought by police following two incidents on Friday.
Northamptonshire Police says four ‘boys’ entered the Watling Street branch of Costa in Towcester at about 12.15pm on Friday, May 22, and headed towards the back of the cafe before taking it in turns to go into the toilet.
One of the suspects then went into the store’s office, searched through a member of staff’s handbag and took a pink fabric purse containing cash - actions which were all caught on the coffee house’s CCTV cameras.
The group then ran away in the direction of the Co-operative store.
All four were Asian, aged between 14 and 15, slim and with short hair shaved at the sides.
The one who entered the office was about 5ft 4 inches, had hair slicked back on the top and had a ‘slight moustache’, according to a police spokesperson.
He was wearing a tight dark leather jacket, light blue skinny jeans, and black shoes.
Officers investigating the case believe it may be linked to a similar theft at the La Strada Bistro in White Horse Yard, Towcester, on Friday, May 22, when a similar group of males stole cash from the premises.
