A champagne shoplifter has been fined and given a conditional discharge.
Gary John Wickens, of Leach Road, Bicester, pleaded guilty to two counts of theft at Banbury Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, February 11.
Wickens, aged 33, admitted stealing a bottle of champagne from The Co-Op, in Barberry Place, Bicester on January 14 and a second bottle of champagne from Marks & Spencer, in Sheep Street, Bicester, on January 24.
He was fined £129.48, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £15 and given an eight-month conditional discharge.
Investigating officer PC James Waterson said: “We will continue to work in partnership with businesses within the town centre and the surrounding estates to ensure that those who commit shoplifting offences in our town are identified, arrested and placed before the courts at every opportunity.”.
