Children at opening of play area they helped design

CHILDREN on Buckingham’s Badgers estate have a new play area.

The new £70,000 playground at Otters Brook was officially opened by chairman of Aylesbury Vale District Council (AVDC) Derrick Isham on Monday.

Designed for children from the ages of two to 14, it includes a high slide, nest swing, roundabouts and zip wire.

Local schools were invited to take part in the consultation process during the design phase.

And children from Bourton Meadow Junior School attended the opening ceremony.

The facility has been entirely funded by ‘Section 106’ contributions from new housing developments. When new homes are built, the developer is required to pay money towards the improvement of local facilities.

AVDC’s cabinet member for leisure, David Thompson, said “This new play area at Otters Brook is a fantastic facility for local children, and I hope they will have many happy years enjoying it. My thanks go out to all those involved in its development.”

The Otters Brook facility is the latest play area in Buckingham to be updated by AVDC.

Earlier this year the play area at Stratford Fields was revamped with new equipment and recently a new facility at Overn Avenue was installed.
