Pet dogs can be micro-chipped for free ahead of it becoming a legal requirement come spring.

Thames Valley Police, alongside the Dogs Trust Charity and Cherwell District Council’s Dog Wardens department, has organised a free micro-chipping event in Bicester.

From April 6, the law will change and anyone that owns a dog must have it micro-chipped.

Sgt Steve Willis said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for all dog owners who have not yet micro-chipped their dog to do so for free.

“We would encourage all owners to take advantage of this one off opportunity that is being offered for free in Bicester.

“Thames Valley Police will also be combining this with a crime prevention event as well for those who attend and it is a great opportunity for local residents to meet their local officers.”

The event runs from 11am to 3pm on Sunday in Pingle Field, Pingle Drive, Bicester.
