This year’s Brackley Christmas Market is coming back bigger and better than before.
Last year’s market was a great success, with Santa’s grotto alone selling out within a few hours.
The market will be taking place on Saturday, December 7, in the town hall, under marquees in the piazza and on the upper car park.
It will be making an earlier start this year, opening at 10am and going on till 6pm
The Christmas market is organised by a committee comprising Brackley residents David Dingvean and Gabrielle Peachey, with help from some other members.
Mr Dingvean said the market has room for about 60 stalls.
He said: “We’ve had around 150 people request booking forms for stalls and we’ve had 40 or 50 back already.”
There will be a mix of Christmas-themed entertainment, music, crafts and stalls.
Performances will include the Southfield School Choir and local singers Francesca Long and Samantha Goddard.
Peppa Pig will be putting in an appearance and Santas Grotto will be open for children to visit.
Brackley-based company De Boer is supplying a marquee for the occasion free of charge. and Soundwave Audio, of Farthinghoe, is providing a stage.
Food stalls include Tasty Times, of Brackley and a company selling Thai food. Brackley wines will be selling mulled wine and Brackley Country Market will be selling their baked goods.
Banbury Sound radio will be broadcasting live from the event from 10am to noon.
Mr Dingvean said: “As always, we’re looking for people to join the committee and volunteer their help.”
Jobs include supporting the committee members on the day, as well as preparation work beforehand, such as contacting local businesses to let them know what is going to be happening.
